Luke 4:18 Anointed
Luke 4:18“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[f]
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
1 John 2:27
As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.
When we accept Jesus in our hearts, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of us. He empowers us. He gives us gifts that we can use to build the kingdom of God on the earth. We can minister to others. It is the power that we need to fulfill the purpose that God has on our lives.
The scripture shows that the Holy Spirit gives us boldness and the words to preach the good news. We can encourage and give hope to those who are grieving and to those who are living in sin. We can pray for the healing and the deliverance of others. We can share the truth of God's Word to help bring freedom. We are the light in the darkness of this world.
And when you move in the anointing, others can tell. The words have power. We move in signs and wonders. People experience God. Lives are changed. God uses us to point the way to Jesus. God gets all the glory. It is His Spirit and not us.
