Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Light v. darkness ... Light always wins. There is a lot of darkness around us these days. We are to be the light that dispels the darkness, however. The definitions of light per a google search include the below:
natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible
source of illumination
an expression in someone's eyes indicating a particular emotion or mood
understanding of a problem or mystery; enlightenment
a device used to produce a flame or spark
a window or opening to let light in
a person eminent in a particular sphere of activity
Because Jesus is the Light of the World and He is in us, His light shines through us, and He gives us light and life. He takes us out of the darkness. John 8: 12 NIV When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Isaiah 9:2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going (John 12:35). Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. 2 Samuel 22:29 You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.
