May 8 2026 --Goodness of God

A few years ago, my pet dog got sick and we had to put him to sleep. He got sick all of a sudden and, and in one day he was gone. I was heartbroken. My dog was my world, so I felt lost and shaken. Also, that year, I lost my job.

At the time, I was wondering why God was teaching me about His goodness while I was experiencing all this loss. If things were going well, I do not think I would be struck by how good God is. As it turns out, it was during that time, that I needed God. I needed to experience His goodness in my life. I needed His love, friendship, strength, and guidance.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

God is so faithful. I know that I am unfaithful, but He is faithful nonetheless. He keeps His promises. He is always there for me. I am the one that wanders away. He is the One that heals my broken heart. Holy Spirit is my comforter. God has been there every step of the way as I have continued on this life journey.

Life is hard, but God is good. Psalm 34:8 says, "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." We need to have a personal experience and relationship with God. Others can tell us about their experiences with God, but that is not the same thing as experiencing God for ourselves. It is more real and undeniable when we can feel God's presence and when we know God is working in our lives. God really is good all the time!
